CCRCs: A Bridge Across Generations

The Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) has become an attractive alternative to the traditional institutionalized nursing home environment. The concept of the CCRC presents many positive aspects to the aging process, both psychologically and physically. These communities, among many other attributes, allow a graceful psychological transition into the “golden years” of retirement while simultaneously ensuring that the physical needs of the elderly are met. There are, however, many challenges in designing and staffing these communities in the years ahead.
