This course explores the different assistive devices that are available to give a client more independence. Care professionals will learn how to recognize and report when a client may need an assistive device. As the emotional adjustment to using some assistive devices can be difficult, care professionals will also learn how to support their client while improving the quality of their life.

- Discuss why some clients find it difficult to adapt to assistive devices.
- Name at least twelve assistive devices that are—or could be—used by your clients.
- Watch for clues (as you perform client care) that your client may need an assistive device.
