Patient Rights for Clinicians and Administrators
This course covers both federal and Medicare patient rights regulations as they apply in the various post-acute settings. Also discussed is the positive impact of upholding patient rights for the patient and the organization.
- Identify at least three demographics protected from discriminatory admission practices in home health as outlined in the Affordable Care Act.
- Apply the six standards outlined in the Patient Rights Condition of Participation to all patients to ensure their rights are protected.
- Describe the role of the patient representative related to patient notifications and patient rights.
- Interpret patient rights related to the HIPAA Privacy Rule, OASIS data collection, the discharge notification process, and the Home Health Advance Beneficiary Notice.
