Understanding Common Wounds

This course provides a detailed, yet practical education of common wounds found in the post-acute setting. Clinicians will learn how to recognize distinct characteristics of 6 common wounds encountered in home and facility-based settings. Assessment tools and common interventions to promote healing, specific to each type of wound, are included. All clinicians who perform wound care will gain a realistic education to use in everyday practice and will become confident that they understand common wounds.

  • Distinguish between NPUAP terminology and CMS terminology for pressure ulcers/injuries.
  • Identify risk factors for pressure injury development.
  • Match pressure injury description to the correct staging.
  • List measures used to prevent the development of pressure injuries.
    Match wound care products to wound descriptions.
